There is a solitude that only nature can provide, its an awareness of existing within the universe. Forever imprinted on my mind are desert wilderness skies silhouetted against the edges of a jagged land or a glassy sea. My latest pieces are influenced by the sights and  sounds of the desert and the sea. These memories have strongly influenced my work as I re-imagine the wide open panorama of the desert.
Encased in this series of cast resin cubes are desert vistas, and the many layers of the atmosphere and oceans.
As light charges the phosphorescent layers, that light is released over time and the darker the room environment is, the stronger the "excited" light is emitted from the pieces. Light illuminates a mysterious "other world" where mountains meet seas in one layer, and clouds in another, its much like a desert setting, but more about a vision of a new world..

There are stages in my work where my "work" evolves, sometimes moving away from the piece for a period of time allows additional thoughts and clarification of my intent. In the beginning of creating a new work, I may see a pattern to pursue. It may be an idea that I am pursuing but a sudden twist, an accidental incident in the work reveals a different vision and direction to take. I am influenced much by what I read and look back at memories with a fresh perspective.  Stores of restoration, faith, healing, promises and more  resonate in my work, as does nature itself.

My thought was to recreate a column using 3" steel and cast resin layers. Exodus 13:20-22. "And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. An "angel" like form is above the yellow/orange translucent casts.

People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
